(169) My Crazy Van

I went on a date today with my hubby. =)

It was a good time, although there really wasn't much to do with our limited time. We went to the mall, ate at the food court, and then shopped around. We talked about what life will be like when we graduate, what life used to be like before we met each other, how wonderful life is together, and how we appreciate where we are at now. It was such a good day just enjoying his company and being able to devote my full attention to him.

Then as we were leaving, the funniest thing happened. Mike went to open the van door for me, but found that he had locked the door. However, my window was down enough that he just reached in and unlocked the van. Then, he went around to his side and opened the door. As soon as he did, the horn started honking!

Apparently, our van has an alarm! We didn't know that and had no idea how it got turned on or, more importantly, how to turn it off. Mike tried a couple of times to start it, but, because it was in alarm mode, it wouldn't start. Then, he decided to try and pull the fuse. It took him a couple of minutes to find the fuse box; he made a guess and pulled out a fuse. Right when he did, the honking stopped! Yay! He got it on the first try. He put the fuse back in and got back in the car.

The alarm went off again! Oh my goodness! Mike went and pulled the fuse again, but this time, nothing happened. We had no clue what to do!

That is when I remember we had the owner's manual in the glove box. (I think it was a stroke of genius.) I pulled it out and quickly found the section about the alarm. I relocked the door and had Mike unlock it with the key. It worked.

Whew.

It turns out that when the door is locked with the key, the alarm automatically turns on. Then, if it is unlocked without the key, it goes off. If it hasn't been deactivated after 3 minutes, the alarm turns off and resets. That is what happened when Mike pulled the fuse; the timing was just right on!

It was crazy. It was funny. It's a good memory.
